Couples Who Travel Together Have Better Relationships

The US travel association has done a survey ahead of Valentine’s Day, regarding whether or not couples who travel together really have better relationships and sex. The statistics show that the majority of couple do have better sex when travelling together.

According to a telephonic poll conducted of 1,100 adults, 83 percent did confirm that travelling together does in fact ignite their romance, bringing that spark back into their relationship and as a result these couples have a better sex life. However the couples who don’t travel together have found themselves lacking that certain something in their sexual relationship.

Did you know? More often than not people prefer short romantic getaways than a fancy gift. It might be worth keeping in mind for future valentines days and birthdays, and actually plan a trip outside the city.

Although the statistic may look convincing on paper the proof is most certainly in the pudding, travelling together as a couple is considered by many as the ultimate relationship test of endurance.

Shauna Springer psychologist and relationship expert has stated that travelling alone or taking some “me” time can in fact greatly benefit relationship as well as giving you as a couple increased marital satisfactions. I guess it is as the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

On the other hand the website Gadling.com has a full list of tips and advice on how to endure and remain sane while travelling with your better half. Tips include how to plan your travels as a couple, taking into consideration the time you have been together i.e. if you have only started dating a month or two ago.

Opt for a weekend getaway or even a road trip with a 4x4 rental, instead of an expensive cruise or fancy holiday destination

Additional helpful tips include:

  • Planning your trip together, this way you could visit places that you both want to visit instead of going places you have no interest in.
  • I know it sounds weird but try and spend some time apart during your trip.
  • While on your own find your partner a special little gift, just to show him/her that even though you weren’t together you were still thinking about him/her.
  • Avoid a stressful experience by not planning every second of your day ahead of schedule. You might be surprised at just how romantic it can be to make a spontaneous decision.
